Taxia Village, a picturesque scene

After going out of Yuchang Building, we headed for Taxia Village which is known as its south of Yangtze River style. Tower Village is located in the west of Nanjing Shuyang town, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, the famous hometown of overseas in Zhangzhou, the first batch of one of 15 Chinese landscape villages. Taxia Village was built in 1426 and has more than 300 families at present.

Taxia Village is a small village with a small stream flowing by. In fact, Taxia Village is a Hakka village, and the whole villagers are Zhang’s family. Early years, a lot of villagers went to Thailand and Myanmar and other countries. After a successful career, they returned and paved roads or bridges to bring honor to their family. Thus, there are all shapes of bridges in this small village.

The three kilometers of asphalt road leading to the village was built with donations from overseas Chinese. Deyuan Hall, a Zhang’s temple in Taxia Village, was built in the late Ming Dynasty by Zhang’s tribe. Behind the temple was a crescent Moon grass, like a natural carpet.

 There are a total of 23 stone dragon flagpoles inscribed with names, fame, rank grade title and characters such as the age of the flagpole in front of Deyuan Hall, each is more than 10 meters high. The top of stone bar was carved with symbols to reveal the sages’ immeasurable merit of the village, which aimed at encouraging the young generation to carry on the family line and make their ancestors illustrious.

Deyuan Hall has more than 400 years of history. On the front of ancient archway is the colored porcelain Dragons, lifelike image. On the ridge there are colorful reliefs: dragon, tiger, lion, unicorn, phoenix, pheasant and other rare animals, as well as peony flowers, camellias, orchids, chrysanthemums and other flowers. As soon as entering the village, we saw a stream flowed around the village like a belt.

Taxia Village got its name for the water there. There is water there is a spiritual.

Tulou is famous for its rough, while Taxia Village is some kind of gentle.

The bridges connect the houses at the shore of the stream.

The bridges leading to the village is called Zhixing Bridge.

Both sides of the stream are flat stone roads.

The clean steam flows down happily.

The stone dragon flagpoles are inscribed with names, fame, rank grade title and characters such as the age of the flagpole in front of Deyuan Hall.

Those who made some official position in the village had the right to erect flagpole in front of the Hall, which aimed at courage their people to strive.

The total number of stone dragon flagpoles in front of Deyuan Hall is 23, each of which is more than 10 meters high.



Taxia Village is a typical Hakka village in China.

Earth buildings (Tulou)were built along the river, evenly distributed at both sides.

Taxia Village has her own spirituality.






People there also play mahjong.

Tulou provide accommodation for visitors. Look at the tips on that board: internet, music, reading, chatting, drinking, and coffee.

There was smoke form Tulou, because there was kitchen at the bottom.

The villagers were playing folk music to entertain themselves.
