Huanglong scenic spot is located in Songpan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, 56 km west of Songpan County, 122 km east from Mianyang City, Pingwu, a total area of 40,000 hectares.

Located at the foot of the Minshan peak snow Baoding, the main scenic area Huanglong Valley is a 7.5 km long, 1.5 km wide, gentle slope valley. Because there are whitish yellow rocks covering the valley, which looks like a yellow dragon meandering in the jungle valley from afar, so got the name as Huanglong (Yellow Dragon) Valley.

Due to thousands of years of geological evolution, Huanglong consists of numerous unique landscapes of geological landforms. Glacial revolution, terrane structure, stratum of carbonic acid rock, tufa water and climatic conditions such as artic-alpine sun light have created this world-famous travertine landscape. The colorful pools, the shining snow-capped mountains, the winding canyons, and the mysterious forest are called the “four wonders”, which enjoy the reputation of “wonders of the world”.

April 27, 2012, I pay a visit to the Yellow Dragon（Huanglong）scenic spot. Although the snow did not melt, but the colorful pools were azure blue, that blue is so pure, though there was no sunshine that day, I still excited!








The color of the Yellow Dragon colorful pools change with the season, the volume of water, sunlight and other factors. So it is vary throughout the year!
