Zhenyuan Ancient Town, an ink and wash painting ancient town

This trip happened to be arrange during the Dragon Boat Festival, we searched on-line and knew that there would be a dragon boat race in Zhenyuan, so we decided to go to there.

Zhenyuan is located in the southeast of Guizhou Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, and attached in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Zhenyuan ancient city is on the Wuyang River, surrounded by mountains. Rivers wind through the city with "S" shape, seamless reflection of the city landscape as beautiful as a painting, forming a giant stone screen of the Taiji Diagram , enjoyed the reputation of being the "Oriental Venice" in home and abroad.

Many ancient roadways, Ming and Qing folk houses, ancient wharf and city wall, as well as the brick and black tiles, high sealing firewall, eaves, carved beams and painted rafters in Zhenyuan are all recording the history of the city, showing vicissitudes of the ancient town.

The night of Zhenyuan are even more attracting: some fishing boat lights on the river emit dim light,which makes the Wuyang River even more magical, and attracts many local residents and foreign tourists. It is busy in night just as the day. Zhenyuan has a long history, with rich culture, magnificent monuments and colorful ethnic cultures. In 2009, China announced the final top ten most beautiful ancient cities, the historical and cultural city of China---Zhenyuan ranked the fifth.

Located on the Wuyang River, Zhenyuan ancient city are surrounded by green mountains, with rivers winding through the city with "S" shape.

Enjoyed the reputation of being the "Oriental Venice" in home and abroad.

It is said that every town has its own stories, but I don’t know the story of the Zhenyuan town, I was just passing by.

In the Dragon Cave, east of Zhenyuan, there are Buddhist temples, Taoist temples, and Confucian shrines, three religions, spectacular, I am respect for all religions and do not dare to enter.

The Old Town holds dragon boat race on Dragon Boat Festival every year.

Tips:

1  Transportation: arrive at Guiyang in the morning, and the time will be not too loose nor too tight, inquiry the approximate duration of the train, got on the train station half an hour later(K112), starting at 9:55 and arrived at around 15:30 Zhenyuan, take a taxi to the city, or carpool.

2  Accommodation: if you go there on the holiday or vacation, the hotel prices will be doubled, but you can look for some moderate small hostel near the bridge.

3  Food: Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage and Chili and grilled fish with Tofupudding in Zhenyuan are the most famous cuisine. You can go to the snack street for supper.
